One of the things I’ve learned during this pande One of the things I’ve learned during this pandemic is the need and importance of non-urgent medical appointments. Or procedures.

We so much depend on those non-urgent appointments to get our children the best support they can, so they can have the best chance at doing well. To stay on top of things to make sure things don’t get to a point where an urgent issue arises.
Hospitals are overwhelmed, which means for the most part, unless something is really urgent or possibly long overdue, it waits. Or gets a virtual assessment, which works better for some things than others.

Not every procedure that’s needed is life-saving. Some are life-changing. They provide a better qualify of life. Some of those, have a timeframe of when it’s best to do them, and tons of kids, adults, have missed that timeframe.
It may not be life threatening, but it could mean pain, daily struggles, frustration and so much more.

It leaves parents feeling frustrated, alone in our battle.
How can a doctor come up with a proper treatment plan if they cannot physically see my child?

It’s tough.
I didn’t realize just how important those regular, non-urgent follow up appointments were. How much they impact overall care. Until now.
I guess the saying is true, that you don’t realize how much you need something until you no longer have it. Something along those lines.

And then when you do go, you worry exposure to illness more than ever before. When you do get called in for that procedure that cannot wait, you’re now doing it alone do to visitor restrictions. Or when you get the choice, and you decide not now, but then constantly worry you made the wrong call.

I know one day this whole thing will be history. The intensity will lessen. I just hope it ends soon enough so not more children will have life-altering effects from all of this. Which, won’t happen. More children will miss out. They’ll miss that window. Parents will worry about their future.

To the parents who feel lost in the system right now, we see you.
To the parents alone at the hospital with their sick child, we see you.
To the loved one who cannot be at the hospital, we see you.

To all of you doing your part, we see you.
Thank you

I don’t miss it 😅
I’d much rather be able to enjoy sweet little adventures like this in the middle of January. We had a white Christmas, so I’m content with the amount of snow we’ve had.

I’m looking forward to nice, warm weather so we can spend lots of time practicing in his Scooot. I can’t wait for the day he chases his brother with it 🥰

Ethan is doing SO much better now that he is back Ethan is doing SO much better now that he is back in his regular therapy routine.

He has certainly been thriving on routine and I’m happy that being back has made him much happier overall ❤️

Every time we go we risk exposure, but we take as many precautions as we can, as do his therapists, and realize that he NEEDS this therapy in order to grow stronger day by day 💪🏻
Never did I think I’d spend so much time worryin Never did I think I’d spend so much time worrying/intently trying to plan the next several years all while having almost no certainly of what exactly will happen and where we will be at 🥴

Today’s discussion revolved around school and needing to move to a more accessible house. It makes my head spin 🙈

Can someone just buy me the perfectly accessible house in a place with good resources and a good school that will accommodate this kiddos needs while also giving Timothy the best chance to thrive?
Thanks 😅
Virtual learning has been extended by 2 weeks in O Virtual learning has been extended by 2 weeks in Ontario.

How will we juggle it all?
I have no clue.
We’ll try our best, just like with everything else.

I’m thankful that for the most part Timothy does really well, but we certainly have our moments where he has absolutely no interest. I don’t blame him, he’s 6. He wants to play.

This is exactly why I didn’t go into 2021 with any big expectations. A new number on the calendar doesn’t just make the world perfect, but we’ll just take it day by day.

On the upside, I don’t need to wake Ethan if he’s napping during school pickup for the next two weeks 😏
